On Thursday, February 5, 2026, the Buckley Institute is pleased to welcome Christian theologian and Grove City College Professor Carl Trueman for a presentation titled, “All That is Sacred Must Be Profaned.”

American citizens have lost faith in the institutions of our common life. Churches and schools alike have long been subjects of skepticism, and the basic bonds of family, nation, and religion are increasingly treated as obstacles to an authentic life rather than sources of meaning. Is this simply a result of the disenchantment that characterizes modernity or is something deeper and more radical to blame?

Join the Buckley Institute for a lecture that examines what is lost when nothing is considered holy. Drawing on Christian theology, Dr. Trueman will ask whether a recovery of the sacred is still possible, and what that recovery might look like.
