Buckley Fellows are invited to a dinner seminar with Yale law professor Steven Calabresi to discuss his book The Meese Revolution: The Making of a Constitutional Moment. The seminar will explore Attorney General Edwin Meese III's influence on the Reagan administration and his pivotal role in the rise of constitutional originalism.
Steven G. Calabresi is a Ronnie F. Heyman Visiting Professor of Law and senior research scholar in law at Yale Law School and the Clayton J. & Henry R. Barber Professor of Law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. He is also the Co-Founder of The Federalist Society and Co-Chairman of its Board of Directors. Professor Calabresi worked in the West Wing of President Ronald Reagan's White House, was a Special Assistant for Attorney General Edwin Meese III, and clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court and for Judges Robert H. Bork and Ralph K. Winter on the federal courts of appeals. He is the author and co-author of The Meese Revolution: The Making of a Constitutional Moment (Encounter Books, 2024) with Gary Lawson, The History and Growth of Judicial Review, Vols. 1 and 2 (Oxford University Press, 2021), The U.S. Constitution, 2nd ed. (Foundation Press, 2026) with Gary Lawson, and The Unitary Executive (Yale University Press, 2008) with Christopher Yoo. He is a graduate of Yale Law School.
