The Buckley Institute is pleased to welcome Vice President Mike Pence as the keynote speaker for the Ninth Annual Disinvitation Dinner at The Pierre in New York City. Disinvitation Dinner is the Buckley Institute’s signature event, giving a platform to perspectives disinvited from America’s college campuses.

As in previous years, this year’s dinner celebrates the hundreds of Buckley Fellows who face the risks of a censorious campus culture every day of their college career. Disinvitation Dinner honors their decisions to challenge the Yale orthodoxy and engage with perspectives outside of the campus mainstream.

The keynote speaker for this year’s dinner is Vice President Mike Pence, the highest ranking elected official to speak to the Buckley Institute. Pence was disinvited from Wisconsin Lutheran College, a small Christian College in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, in August 2020 after “careful consideration of the escalating events in Kenosha.” Stanford University’s student government sought to cut off funding for Pence’s February 2022 event before that decision was overturned by Stanford’s Constitutional Council. And before he spoke at University of Virginia in April 2022, a progressive effort to cancel his speech culminated in an editorial from the school paper saying his speech “threatens the well-being and safety of students.”
