On Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 7pm, the Buckley Institute is pleased to welcome author and journalist Douglas Murray for a conversation on “Why We Must Save the West.”
The West is under attack, domestically and abroad. So many of its core ideals -- democracy, individualism, rule of law -- are under threat, be it unlawful attacks on Israel, China’s surging authoritarianism, or the undermining of traditional values in the United States. What will it take to defend western democracy in this pressing time?
Join the Buckley Institute for a discussion with bestselling author and journalist Douglas Murray, whose books On Democracies and Death Cults, The War on the West, and more clearly define and fiercely defend the need for western ideals in the modern world. Don’t miss this!
This event is supported by the Terry M. Holcombe Memorial Fund.
Tickets are required for attendance but do not guarantee seating. No bags, liquids, food, or containers will be allowed in the auditorium.

Douglas Murray is a bestselling author, journalist, and one of the most popular conservative political commentators in the world.
In his latest book,
On Democracies and Death Cults: Israel and the Future of Civilization (2025), drawing from intensive on-the-ground reporting in Israel, Gaza, and Lebanon, Murray presents a compelling case that places the latest violence in its proper historical context. He takes readers on a harrowing journey through the aftermath of the October 7 massacre, piecing together the exclusive accounts from victims, survivors, and even the terrorists responsible for the atrocities. In
The War on the West (2022), he seeks to defend Western culture against what he regards as a barrage of unjust criticism for perceived past wrongdoings. The book was a No.1 Bestseller in both
The New York Times and
The Sunday Times. He is the author of two other Sunday Times Bestsellers;
The Madness of Crowds: Gender, Race and Identity (2019) and
The Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity and Islam (2017).
Douglas Murray has been a contributor to
The Spectator since 2000 and Associate Editor at the magazine since 2012. He is a columnist for
The New York Post,
The Free Press,
The Sun,

National Review and numerous other outlets.
A prolific debater, Murray has spoken on a variety of prominent platforms, including at the British and European Parliaments and the White House. His opponents have included Mehdi Hasan, Julian Assange, Rowan Williams and Malcolm Gladwell.
